One of the main problems in South Africa is unemployment. At SAMIL, we are an entrepreneurial team and our overwhelming duty to the community is to help providing employment, directly or indirectly. Our motto, therefore, is:
IN ORDER TO GIVE, YOU HAVE TO HAVE - IF YOU HAVE AND DO NOT GIVE, THEN IT’S BAD
We believe firmly at SAMIL that we are able to attack the problem starting at origin, by introducing innovative methods in the angora goat farming industry, including active collaboration with the Black Empowerment Enterprise (BEE). Sorting the hair, both at farm and in the brokers’ warehouses will provide further jobs. SAMIL’S core business, topmaking and trading, is not likely to provide many new jobs, as the supply of mohair is limited; however, we are organising a business to gather wool and mohair from Lesotho, and this, in addition to the usual warehousing and transportation, brings about more jobs in sorting the hair. SAMIL Spinners brings about a stream of new jobs with many possibilities downstream, such as knitting, weaving and making garments, A brand new concept, AFRICAN EXPRESSIONS, indirectly provides many job opportunities in hand knitting.
As entrepreneurs, we believe that we fulfil an important social responsibility by contributing to the creation of jobs in our country.
